Multimode Subtractive Additive Robotic Production Method

Hybrid of Hard Foam and Soft Silicone

 

To test and evaluate the developed multimode robotic production method, a proof of concept prototype with black polystyrene hard foam and silicone is produced. The hardened outcome of the printed cells demonstrates the desired elastic behaviour while it firmly stays glued to the foam. Further tests are also conducted where, through the introduction of a sine wave in the toolpath, the contact area of the two materials as well as the printing layers is effectively increased.
